Scenes from the road

A bit of a delay, but I'm finally catching up from the weekend.  Before I recap though, a bit of advice for the traveler, whether it be just to another city or another country.  Add powdered gatorade or some sort of energy/electrolyte replenishing powder to your medicine kit.  Believe me, it will come in handy and will probably taste better than Indian made rehydrating salts :-)

We finally made it out of Jaipur and headed up into the country/desert for a night.  One of the groups is working with the Morarka Foundation on helping them research eco-tourism and they wanted us to help them 'research' things in Nawalgarh for the weekend.  So we boarded our little tourist bus (the Tempo Traveler below) and headed NE about 3.5 hours.  It's not that far, but Indian roads aren't the easiest to navigate so it took us a while to get there.

Here are some interesting pics of things seen along the way.  I'll update the rest of the trip later, for now, enjoy some scenery from Indian roadways.

Smallest store in India...

Various methods of transportation

minor traffic jam, cleared in 2 minutes
hope he didn't have to go too far!

hay truck

and probably the best one, not the safest by any means, but just amazing that anyone would choose to travel this way.  the triple decker bus, top floor accessible only by climbing and holding on for dear life

and who could forget the fire extinguishers at the gas station

I have plenty more pictures to share, but for now, time to catch up on sleep!
